SI-TPVs have excellent adhesion to a variety of thermoplastics, from polypropylene and polyethylene to all kinds of engineering plastics.

When selecting an Si-TPV for an over-molding application, the substrate type should be considered. Not all Si-TPVs will bond to all types of  substrates.

For nylon lagging is more commonly used to use physical lagging methods, that is, to achieve the purpose of covering nylon parts through buckle design, surface rolling, and surface tapping. However, this method will have great drawbacks, it has strong adhesion in the physical connection part, and does not have strong adhesion in other parts, which is easy to cause falling off and has a low degree of design freedom. Chemical lagging uses the molecular affinity, polarity or hydrogen bonding force between the two materials to achieve the effect of wrapping. Naturally, the use of chemical lagging allows for a secure fit in each part while giving a great deal of design freedom.

As an elastomer, TPU has certain advantages in mechanical properties and wear resistance, cold resistance, oil resistance, water resistance, etc., and its polarity is not much different from nylon, so it is often used as a material for covering nylon. However, in the actual use process, there are often problems that poor adhesion leads to the lagging falling off, which affects the service life of the product.
